How to Flat Fold Napkins for a Party

Folding cloth napkins is a good way to spruce up a dinner table for a party.

Folded cloth napkins are a fancy touch for any dinner party. Many types of napkin folds are not flat, however, so it can be difficult to find the right look if want a flat fold. There are a few types of folds that allow the napkins to lay flat against the table.

Instructions

1. Lay the cloth napkin on the table directly in front of you, making sure it is smoothed out face-down.

2. Pull the far end of the napkin toward you, folding the entire thing in half horizontally.

3. Next, fold the napkin into fourths so that the open-end is on the bottom right in front of you.

4. Take the top layer of the napkin and lift it up. Fold it diagonally toward the upper left corner.

5. Take the next layer of the napkin and repeat the above step, but this time, place this layer directly below the last layer. This should create a slightly staggered look.

6. Repeat this step with the bottom two layers, lifting them up and pulling them to the upper-left corner, but placing the corner directly below the layer that came before it. You should have four layers, one just below the other.

7. Fold the ends of the napkin underneath itself, creating a cone shape out of the napkin. Smooth the layers down and you are finished.
