How to Mix Toilet Cleaners

Mix household items to keep the toilet clean.

Many commercial toilet bowl cleaners contain harsh chemicals that you may not want to introduce into your home. Instead, you search for toilet cleaners that are mild yet still effective in keeping the toilet free of odor and residue. Luckily there are a few household products you can mix to deodorize, remove stains, disinfect and give a basic overall cleaning to the toilet.

Things You'll Need

• Baking soda
• Vinegar
• Spray bottle, optional
• Toilet bowl brush

Instructions

1. Sprinkle 2 cups of baking soda into the toilet bowl when you want to clean and deodorize.

2. Mix in 2 cups of white vinegar. For stains around the top of the toilet bowl, fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and spray over the toilet bowl surface. Let the baking soda and vinegar mixture work for about 15 minutes.

3. Scrub down your toilet bowl with the toilet brush and flush your toilet when finished. Repeat as needed to keep stains and buildup off the toilet.
