Instructions

    • 1

Bake the cake according to the directions and pour into two 9-inch greased pans. Allow cakes to cool 10 to 15 minutes before removing from pans to cooling racks.

    • 2

Move one cake from the cooling rack to a large cutting board. Create the buggy shape by cutting out a wedge, about one-quarter of the cake. Set the wedge aside. Cover a sturdy cake base board, usually made of heavy cardboard found at stores that sell baking supplies, with foil. Place the remaining cake on the foil-covered board with the wedge opening to the right. This piece becomes the main part of the buggy.

    • 3

Cut the wedge from the first cake starting with the rounded side. Cut a slightly curved shape about 3 1/2-inches long by 1 1/4-inches wide. Place this piece on the covered board on the right side of the wedge. This piece becomes the buggy handle.

Move the second cake to the cutting board and cut two circles. Each circle should be 3 3/4 inches. Place the circles under the buggy to make the wheels. Decorate the cake and serve.
