How to Make a Copper Pyramid Hat

- Flexible measuring tape
- Copper flashing
- Ruler
- Grease pencil
- Tin snips
- Silicone caulk

Measure around your head just above your eyebrows. Hold the tape in a circle and measure across the circle with your ruler. This is how large the base of your hat must be. For instance, if your measuring tape circle measures 6 inches in diameter, the base of your pyramid must be 6 inches by 6 inches.

Draw a 6-by-6 inch square (in this case) on your copper flashing. From the center of each side of the square, draw a vertical 5-inch line. On either side of each line, draw a diagonal line running from the tip of the vertical line to one corner of the square. The result should be four triangles with the square in the center.

Draw a rectangle along the right edge of the topmost triangle. Turn the shape 90 degrees to the right and draw rectangles on the right sides of the other three triangles. These are glue tabs for putting the hat together.

Cut out the four triangles, including the glue tabs. Cut the triangles away from the squares. Bend each glue tab on each triangle inward, making sure they all face the same direction.

Run a bead of silicone glue down each glue tab. Press the left, flat edge of a triangle into each glue tab, making sure the edges of the triangles line up exactly. Wipe away excess glue with a paper towel.

Set the hat on a paper towel to dry overnight. Gently test the joints before wearing and meditating.

Tips & Warnings
Blunt any sharp edges with a metal rasp before using your pyramid.
Use your square copper piece to make a punched copper lantern or bend up the sides to make a bowl to hold crystals or water during meditation.
