Learn how to recharge a nebulizer battery.

A nebulizer is a piece of medical equipment used to administer medicine that is formed into a vapor or fine mist and taken into the body by the use of a mouthpiece or face mask. A nebulizer is used to administer medicine to those people with respiratory ailments such as asthma. Many nebulizers on the market are battery run, so it is important to make sure the battery is charged and ready for use at all times, especially for chronically ill patients.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the medication or nebulizer unit and rinse out any excess medication that may be in the cup or holder so that the fresh medication can freely emit from the nebulizer.

    • 2

Take the AC adapter or the battery charger out of the storage case for the nebulizer. You should always keep the adapter or charger in the case and have it ready for use.

    • 3

Locate the port on the nebulizer where you will place the end of the adapter, then plug the adapter into the unit. Make sure it is in securely. If you are using a battery charger, remove the battery from the nebulizer and place it into the holder of the charger.

    • 4

Plug the external plug of the AC adapter or the end of the battery charger into a working electrical outlet. If you are using an AC adapter, place the nebulizer in a place where the wire will not cause a hazard to anyone walking past.

    • 5

Charge the battery in the AC adapter or the battery charger for at least 4 hours or until the indicator light turns green.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get a spare battery and alternate between the two batteries for longer use and in case of a power outage.

  • If you are on any type of electrically-powered medical machinery and the power goes out, call your power company immediately so you will be placed on a priority power restoration list.
