How to Make Fuzzy Paint

How to Make Fuzzy Paint thumbnail
Use cotton balls from the medicine cabinet to make fuzzy paint.

Fuzzy paint can add texture and detail to a craft project like a homemade T-shirt or a paper card to give to a friend. No decorative paint is fuzzy by nature, but a trick combining puff paint and bits of cotton can leave behind a fuzzy texture that dries and sticks to the craft you're working on. You can create this technique using basic items you may already have on hand, making it a cost-conscious project, to boot.

Things You'll Need

  • Cotton balls
  • Food coloring
  • Puff paint

Instructions

    • 1

Tear a handful of cotton balls into small pieces, pulling the cotton apart to create little fuzzy pieces.

    • 2

Place the torn cotton pieces into a bowl and mix a few drops of food coloring over the pieces. Choose food coloring in a color that matches the paint you're using.

    • 3

Mix the cotton and coloring until the cotton pieces are the desired color.

    • 4

Apply a line of puff paint onto the craft you're creating. Puff paint can be found at most craft stores and will puff up when applied.

    • 5

Scatter the cotton pieces onto the puff paint before it dries so that the cotton will stick, creating a fuzzy line of paint.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wash your hands after using the food coloring to prevent stains.
