How to Make a Yarn Pom Pom Wreath
Crafting and DIY projects like making a yarn pom pom wreath are fun, inexpensive, and easy. Decide what colors of yarn you want to be in your wreath. A five-color maximum is a good rule of thumb to prevent your wreath from becoming too gaudy and overwhelming. To ensure that you get all of the same color, purchase your yarn at the same time to get the same dye lot in the yarn.

1
Wrap the yarn around your fingers. Depending on what size pom poms you want, use 2 (small), 3 (medium), or 4 (large) fingers. Don't wrap too tightly.
-
2
Continue wrapping until you've reached your desired thickness. Wrap around your fingers 50 to 75 times for small pom poms, 75 to 100 for medium, and 100 to 125 for large.

3
Carefully slide the wrapped yarn off of your fingers. Cut a separate piece of yarn 4 to 6 inches in length and lay it out flat horizontally. This will be used as a tie.
-
4
Place the wrapped yarn ball in the center of the tie so that the direction the yarn is wrapped faces up and down, perpendicular to the tie.
-
5
Pull the tie up and around your yarn ball as tightly as possible and tie a knot. Cut the loops with sharp scissors all the way around the yarn ball. Trim off the longer pieces until you are satisfied with the look of your pom pom.
