How to Prepare a Boneless Turkey Breast
Preparing a turkey breast can be done in the oven, on the grill or in a slow cooker. The slow cooker method of cooking a turkey breast allows you to cook the meat slowly all day or at a faster pace in half a day. While the turkey is cooking in the slow cooker, you have the oven open for diner rolls, pies or other dinner items that need to be prepared in the oven. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Slow cooker
- Rack (optional)
- Oil
- Paper towel
- Turkey breast
- 1 oz. onion soup mix
- 1 tsp. garlic powder (optional)

Set up the slow cooker. If the slow cooker has a rack for the bottom, use it. If you don't have a rack, pour just enough water in the slow cooker to coat the bottom.

Wash the turkey breast with cool water and pat it dry with a paper towel. Lift up the skin and rub 1 oz. of onion soup mix over the flesh. Replace the skin on the turkey. Use a piece of paper towel soaked with oil to rub the skin on the turkey breast. Oil will keep the skin from getting dried out and helps it turn golden brown.

Place the turkey in the slow cooker with the skin side up. Sprinkle garlic powder over the skin if desired.Turn the heat on high for one hour, and then turn the heat down to low and cook for seven hours.

Remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it sit for 10 minutes before carving.

Tips & Warnings
Use a turkey baster to remove the juices from the slow cooker to make gravy.
Add potatoes and carrots the last three hours to make an entire meal.
