How to Connect a TV and Mac With a Cable
If you ever work on photos or videos with your Mac computer and don't want to invest in an expensive monitor, you may wish to connect it to a tevevision from time to time. Fortunately this is very easy to do in 2011 with the right parts and understanding of the television's functions.
Things You'll Need
- Mini-DVI to S-video, serial, or HDMI converter
- S-video, serial, or HDMI cable

Locate the Mini-DVI port on your Macintosh computer. Plug the adapter into it by pushing in. Choose which adapter to purchase depending on the type of port your TV offers.

Attach one end of the correct corresponding cable to the Mini-DVI adapter and the other end into the television. For example, if you have an HDMI port on your TV, you will be using a Mini-DVI to HDMI converter with an HDMI cable. This will plug into the HDMI port on your television.

Turn on your Macintosh. Turn on the television and keep pressing the Input button until you see your Macintosh's desktop displayed. Once you locate it you have successfully connected the Mac and TV together.

Tips & Warnings
A serial cable seems to work best if the TV is equipped to handle it.
