Stay motivated to reach your weight-loss goals.

Tons of people have weight loss on their minds. Often the most difficult part of a successful weight-loss program is finding the motivation to stick with it. Getting to the gym or out on the pavement usually is more than half the battle, and the toughest work often is in your mind instead of your body. Drop pounds with tried-and-true tips, and stay on track by motivating yourself on a daily basis. Revving up to get -- and stay -- fit is your best defense against remaining at a weight that is not healthy or comfortable for you.

Instructions

Tell people about your weight-loss goals. The more people you tell, the more you'll feel committed to follow through. You also can increase your odds of sticking to your plan by committing to a charitable endeavor such as a run to raise money for a worthy cause. In this case, the charity and the people who sponsor you will be depending on you.

Adopt a puppy. Dogs require walking every day of the year, regardless of the weather or how lethargic you're feeling. At the very least, you'll have to take your dog outside a few times a day. It's important for dogs to get plenty of exercise, so in order to raise your pooch right, you should go on long walks or runs with it just about every day. Having your pet depend on you will make it easier to get in exercise.

Download your favorite tunes to your MP3 player, and listen to upbeat songs while you work out. Start your exercise playlist with slower-paced tunes for warming up, and make the long middle section of your playlist fast-paced and energetic. End your session with tunes that slow down to sync with the cool-down portion of your workout.

Stock your refrigerator and cupboards with snacks that you can grab before heading out the door. Having healthy snacks that travel well can help you avoid grabbing unhealthy foods. For example, keep small bags of baby carrots or low-fat granola at the ready.

Purchase a personal training package. If you put out a substantial amount of dough for a personal trainer, you won't want to blow off the session and waste all that money. Once you get to the gym, your trainer will take the reins and keep you on task.
