How to Install and Operate a Golf Ball Washer
Golf ball washers are integral to keeping your ball clean. When a golf ball is dirty, it is difficult to hit straight because a build-up of dirt can alter its trajectory. Most golf clubs have several ball washers distributed throughout the course. Often, a ball washer is located adjacent to the tee box of each hole. Installing a golf ball washer is a simple task, which will allow fellow golfers to use it with ease.
Instructions
-
Install the Ball Washer
-
1
Decide on a location that would be suitable for a ball washer. If you're installing it adjacent to the hole's tee box, it should be set to the side or rear of the tee box. If your ball washer has a base that allows it to stand freely, simply place it in a location that you'd like.
-
2
Drill a hole to the required depth using an auger. The length of the pole on the golf ball washer will dictate the depth of hole to drill. If the ground is soft, a hand auger will suffice.
-
-
3
Insert the pole into the hole to gauge its depth. Once the hole's depth is correct, prepare a bag of cement by mixing it with water in a wheelbarrow until it has reached the correct consistency.
-
4
Shovel the cement into the hole until the hole is filled. Place a level against the pole and move the pole until it is vertical. Allow the cement to dry for at least 24 hours before installing the washer.
-
5
Bolt the ball washer onto the top of the pole using wrenches and a screwdriver. Regardless of the brand of ball washer you've purchased, it will easily bolt into place.
-
6
Fill the ball washer with water and add a few drops of dish soap.
Use the Ball Washer
-
7
Pull the washer handle up to reveal its ball holder. Place your golf ball in the circular ball holder area, then lower the handle so the ball is immersed in the soapy water.
-
8
Pump the handle up and down several times to saturate the ball with water and allow it to rub against the bristles that are inside the device.
-
9
Lift the handle all the way up, remove your ball and dry it with the towel on your golf bag.
