How to Use Coupons for Food Shopping

Grocery coupons allow you the ability to save some money on your grocery costs by providing a discount on the products you purchase. There are several places to obtain coupons including online, by mail or through your local newspaper. Coupons offer various discounts depending on the coupon and the product. The amount you are able to save using the coupons varies depending on the store where you redeem them.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase your local newspaper or open a coupon website and search for the coupons you would like to use for shopping. Most local papers have coupon inserts in the Sunday newspaper but may have coupons other days of the week in the food section. Coupons can also be found in the mail or in magazines.

    • 2

Cut the coupons you would like to use for your grocery purchases. If there are multiples of the same coupon, you should cut both in case the store you frequent accepts double coupons.

    • 3

Visit your local grocery store and purchase the items you have cut coupons for. Provide the coupons to the cashier at the register to obtain your discount. You must surrender the coupons at the time of purchase to receive the discount.
