How to Use a Built-in Vacuum System
The installation of a built-in vacuum system cuts out the need to carry a canister or upright cleaner from room to room. Instead, you attach the vacuum hose to one of the system's wall inlets located at strategic positions throughout your home. This activates the suction, allowing you to use the range of attachments supplied to remove dust, debris and dirt, which are drawn through a series of tubes to a central collection tank. The length of the vacuum hose means you can clean a very large area without having to change to another inlet. Does this Spark an idea?

Getting Started
-
1
Decide which attachments you will need for the area of your home you wish to clean. For above-floor cleaning, you will need the upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle and dusting brush. The type of flooring in the area being cleaned will dictate which floor tool you use.
-
2
Select the necessary attachments from your built-in vacuum system's tool kit and place them in the area in which you will be working.
-
-
3
Attach your built in vacuum system hose to the nearest inlet point. This will activate the vacuum and allow you to begin cleaning.
Cleaning Above the Floor
-
4
Attach your built-in vacuum system's extension wands to the handle of the hose and position the dusting brush on the end. Lightly run the brush along the joint between the ceiling and wall over as wide an area as possible.
-
5
Turn the dusting brush around so you can use it to remove dirt and debris from the tops of baseboards.
-
6
Remove the extension wands and attach the dusting brush to the hose handle.
-
7
Use the dusting brush to remove dust from furniture surfaces, picture frames, lamp shades, blinds, bookshelves and books.
-
8
Attach the upholstery nozzle and vacuum soft furnishings. Use the crevice nozzle to clean narrow gaps between cushions.
Vacuuming the Floor
-
9
Re-attach the extension wands and position the crevice nozzle on the end.
-
10
Use the crevice nozzle to clean the edge of the floor, where the baseboard and flooring meet.
-
11
Select the correct floor tool for the type of flooring in the room.
-

Tips & Warnings
When using your built-in vacuum system, move furniture to allow you to vacuum the floor and baseboards underneath and behind it. You will have more space to do this because you do not have to worry about a canister or upright cleaner being in the way.
Be careful when vacuuming stairs. Because the vacuum hose is much longer, you'll have to make sure you don't accidentally trip over it.
