How to Find a Radio Station by Call Number

Save

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent agency of the U.S. government that regulates broadcast radio stations. Radio stations are generally identified by their call signs. If you are trying to locate a radio station by its call sign, the FCC offers an online search tool you can use to find detailed information about the radio station including the station's broadcast frequency, license status, city and state of operation and FCC file number.

Open a Web browser on your computer and go to the FCC's FM or AM radio database query (see Resources).

Enter the radio station's call sign in the appropriate text field.

Press the "Submit Data" button.

Select the radio station from the list of radio stations that matches your search query for detailed information about that radio station.
