How to Cook an Already Steamed Lobster Tail
Reheating, or cooking, an already steamed lobster tail can be a bit tricky because if you overcook the tail meat, it can easily become rubbery in texture and lose flavor. Yet, the meat must be heated to a safe temperature in order to ensure that no bacterial growth has occurred since it was removed from the refrigerator. Things You'll Need
- Saucepan
- Water or clam sauce
- Instant read thermometer
- Casserole recipe
- Skillet
- Butter or oil
Instructions

Reheat on the Stovetop

Add the lobster tail whole, or removed from the shell, to a saucepan.

Cover the tail with water or clam juice.

Bring the water to a boil.

Insert an instant read thermometer into the meat. When the meat reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit, the lobster tail is ready and safe to eat.
In a Casserole

Remove the meat from the lobster tail and add it to your favorite seafood casserole recipe.

Cook the casserole in the oven as specified by the recipe directions.

Serve the casserole at the end of the recipe cooking time. If in doubt, use the food thermometer to check the internal temperature of the dish.
Saute the Tail Meat

Melt 1 tablespoon or more of butter, or use an equivalent amount of cooking oil, in a nonstick skillet.

Remove the lobster meat from the shell and sauté in the butter or oil for several minutes.

Determine the internal temperature using an instant read thermometer in a larger piece of the lobster meat.

Add the cooked lobster meat to omelets or other dishes or eat as is.

Tips & Warnings
Already steamed lobster meat can be added to salads and other cold dishes straight from the refrigerator.
If you do not plan to eat the steamed lobster tail within two days, remove the meat from the shell and store in freezer bags in the freezer. Reheat as instructed in the steps.
