How to Make Vintage Christmas Angels
You can add a personal touch to your Christmas, by making your own decorations. Families in earlier eras would decorate for the holidays by creating their own decorations for the tree. The Victorians had a particular passion for angels, and often made angel decorations from everyday objects, like clothespins or pine cones. These are inexpensive projects that you and your family can create together. Does this Spark an idea?

Clothespin Angel
-
1
Paint the clothespins. Paint the top rounded section a flesh tone and the bottom part white. Paint faces on the round section to create the angel's head. Let dry.
-
2
Create the angel's wings by cutting gauze material into an 8- by 12-inch piece. Fold edges in toward the center, and secure with a pipe cleaner. You should place one wing on each side of the pipe cleaner.
-
-
3
Glue wings onto the clothespin using a glue gun.
-
4
Cut pieces of yarn, and glue them onto the angel's head as hair.
-
5
Make the halo by wrapping a pipe cleaner around your finger, to create a circle. Glue it onto the angel's head.
Pine Cone Angel
-
6
Paint a face on the acorn.
-
7
Glue the acorn onto the pine cone. The pine cone will be the angel's body, and the acorn will be the head.
-
8
Glue the nut shells or boll to the back of the pine cone. These will be the angel's wings.
-
9
Glue a loop of ribbon to the back of the angel, so you can hang it on a tree. You also can tie the ribbon into a bow at the front of the neck.
