How to Paint a Raccoon
Raccoons are called "masked bandits" for the the dark fur around their eyes and for their opportunistic ability to eat anything. They have long fingers and are dexterous enough to open cages. Foraging at night, these mammals live all over North America. To paint a raccoon, draw one with a catlike face with its signature dark bandit eyes. Add a furry body and ringed tail. Paint your raccoon with gray, black and white for your final painting.
Instructions

1
Draw your raccoon's face first on your prepared canvas with a HB pencil. Create a triangle with the point down. The point will be the nose.
-
2
Add pointy ears on top of the triangular face and add circular eyes. A raccoon's face is much like a cat's. Draw the dark area just under its eyes for its distinctive raccoon look.
-
-
3
Draw a large oval for your raccoon's body. Then add four short legs and a long ringed tail. This is your basic raccoon body.
-
4
Paint your raccoon's body with gray paint with a medium-sized brush. The tail is also part gray with dark rings. Paint the face gray except for the inside of the ear, the masked eyes and the nose.
-
5
Mix black with your gray to create the dark color for your raccoon. Paint the inside of its furry ears with this color. Use the color for the dark area under its eyes and for the rings on the tail.
-
6
Paint a black nose and black claws and give its eyes black pupils. Paint dark brown around the pupils. Add white highlights to the top of the eyes and tips of the ears.
-
7
Paint a background for your raccoon, such as an outdoor grassy scene.
