How to Make a Jungle Jane Costume

Whether you are going to a jungle themed costume party, or any old regular costume party, or even just going out, a Jungle Jane costume will turn heads. Unlike most sexy costumes, Jungle Jane makes sense. Jungle Jane is a sexy wild thing, who lacks the civilized manner of most characters. Have fun at your next party with this wild woman Jungle Jane costume, and don't let anyone tell you to "behave."

Things You'll Need

  • 1 yard brown or animal print fabric
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread
  • Fabric chalk
  • Measure around your ribcage right underneath your bust, then measure down from your neck to your underbust.

  • Draw a line on your fabric of choice using washable chalk the length of the first measurement. Measure second measurement perpendicularly from the center of that line, then add an inch and place a mark.

  • Draw a line parallel to the first line about 6 inches long with the mark at the center. Draw lines at each end connecting the 6 inch line with the ends of the first measurement line. This will be your top.

  • Cut out the fabric for the top.

  • Measure around your hip bones and draw a line with this measurement on the fabric that is left. Draw out a tattered edge for the bottom of the skirt. It can be as long or short as you want. Uneven lengths are more likely to look natural.

  • Cut out the skirt fabric. Cut two 7-inch strips of fabric for ties for the skirt from the fabric that is left. Cut one 2-foot strip of fabric for the tie around the neck. Cut out two more strips about 7 inches each for the ties at the back of the top.

  • Fold the extra inch on the top edge of the top over and sew, leaving room for the strip of fabric to be pulled through.

  • Sew the open edge of the skirt together, leaving about 5 inches at the top unsewn. Sew one 7-inch strip to each corner of the top of the skirt where it splits.

  • Sew one 7-inch strip to each corner of the bottom edge of the top. Feed the last 2-foot strip through the fold on the top edge of the top.

Tips & Warnings
