How to Throw a Spiderman Birthday Party
Batman may have gadgets galore and Superman might be faster than a speeding bullet, but only Spiderman can scale the sides of buildings and shoot webs from his hands. If your child is an aspiring web-slinger, has the "Spiderman" movies memorized, or owns a towering stack of "Spiderman" comic books, impress him with a Spiderman birthday party. A Spiderman-themed birthday party is relatively easy and inexpensive to arrange and is sure to be a hit with elementary-school-aged children. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Invitations
-
1
Use white glue to make a spider web on the invitation. Fold a piece of red or blue construction paper or card stock in half.
-
2
Glue a picture of Spiderman to the front (or draw one yourself).
-
-
3
Use white liquid glue to make the shape of a spider web on one of the corners of the front of the card.
-
4
Shake glitter over the card, wait for the glue to dry and then shake the card again. The glitter will stay only where the glue is.
-
5
Write "You're Invited To..." on the front of the card and "A Spiderman Birthday Party!" on the inside. Below this, write the party's location, the date and time it will be held, the age the honoree will be turning, and other pertinent information.
-
6
Below the information about the party, write in large letters "Look out! Here comes the Spiderman (party)!" to reference Spiderman's theme song. If you can, include a sheet of Spiderman stickers inside the invitation to get guests excited about the party theme. You can also let your small child decorate the invitation with Spiderman stickers if she'd like to "help" with the invitations.
Decorations
-
7
Decorate the table with a blue or red tablecloth, and assemble a collection of Spiderman action figures to serve as a centerpiece.
-
8
Purchase red and blue balloons and streamers. Tape clusters of inflated balloons at the corners of the party room. Lay a red streamer over a blue streamer and twist them together. Hang these twisted streamers throughout the party room.
-
9
Tape cotton thread or ready-made fake spider webs to the wall to form a spider web shape. Attach fake spiders and Spiderman action figures or pictures of Spiderman to the webs.
Games and Activities
-
10
Ask the party guests form a "human spider web" by having them to stand in a circle. Each guest must grab the left hand of someone in the circle using her left hand, and the right hand of another individual with her right hand. The guests must escape from the web without letting go of each other's hands.
-
11
Play a modified version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Hang up a large poster of Spiderman and have the party guests pin Spiderman masks onto Spiderman's face.
-
12
Set up large cardboard cutouts of Spiderman villains, like Doc Ock or the Green Goblin, and let the guests shoot them with water guns. You can set up specific targets on the cutouts or award points for the specific parts of the cutout hit to make the activity more challenging and interesting for older kids.
-
13
Have the party guests blow off steam by playing Doc Ock tag. Have one child act as the initial tagger. Each child he tags must link arms with him and run with him to catch the next guest (who then becomes part of the "octopus.") The game ends when all of the children are part of the octopus.
Food
-
14
Offer Spiderman punch, or red fruit punch with blueberries, and Green Goblin punch, or lime sherbert and lemon-lime soda.
-
15
Make spider snacks by spreading cream cheese onto a round cracker and sticking four pieces of shredded carrot out of each side as spider legs.
-
16
Make Doc Ock hot dogs by cutting one end of each hot dog into eight "tentacles." After cooking, these will curl up like real tentacles.
-
17
Make Spiderman cupcakes by icing cupcakes with blue or red icing and piping black icing webs over their tops. Use a plastic or candy spider or a small Spiderman figurine as a topper on each cupcake.
