Putting a picture on the face of a clock can add creativity and personality to any room in your house. It is also an interesting way to showcase a favorite photo or memory while adding a bit of flair to a plain appliance. Adding a picture to a less-than-exciting clock is a simple craft project for the whole family.

Instructions

    • 1

Trim your picture to the size you want with scissors. If the picture is to cover the entire face of the clock, cut a hole in the center of the image for the hands of the clock. If the stem of the hands is large, consider cutting a slit down the center of the picture so it can be arranged around the stem.

    • 2

Remove the batteries from the clock. If using a wind-up clock, remove the back of the clock with a screwdriver, then carefully remove the inside of the clock so you can access the face.

    • 3

Remove the face cover of the clock. In most cases, the face cover can be removed simply by applying pressure by hand. Some clocks, however, will require that you use the screwdriver to remove the face cover. In the case of a wind-up clock, simply pull out the face of the clock that you exposed in Step 2.

    • 4

Apply a thin layer of craft glue to the back of the picture. Place the picture on the face of the clock, glue-side down. If the picture is to take up the entire face of the clock, maneuver the hands through the hole in the center of the picture before gluing the picture down. Then gently rub the picture to secure it in place.

    • 5

Replace the face cover of the clock and the batteries. If you were able to remove the face cover by hand, simply pop it back into place. If you had to unscrew it, secure it back into place with the screwdriver. In the case of a wind-up clock, replace the face of the clock and the inner workings as you found them. Then turn the hands to the correct time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rubber cement may be used in place of craft glue. However, using anything but rubber cement or craft glue may cause the picture to dry with puckers and wrinkles.
