Things You'll Need
- Large mixing bowl
- Spoon
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. of white granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp. of salt
- Knife
- 2/3 cups of shortening
- Fork
- 3 to 4 tbsp. of iced water

Instructions
-
-
1
Mix together 2 cups of flour, 1 tsp. of white sugar and 1/4 tsp. of salt in a large bowl.
-
2
Cut 2/3 cups of shortening into the flour mixture using a fork until it has a crumbly texture.
-
-
3
Add 3-4 tbsp. of ice water to the mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time; when the dough forms a ball or holds together when pinched it is ready.
-
4
Remove the dough from the bowl and divide it into two balls, with one ball slightly larger than the other one.
-
5
Lightly flour a flat surface and roll the dough out using a rolling pin. Roll the larger ball of dough out to 9 inches in diameter.
-
6
Place the rolled dough into a 9-inch pie pan and press it against the bottom of the sides. Add the cherry pie filling. Roll the smaller ball of dough out and cut it into long strips. Apply the strips in a lattice pattern across the top of the cherry pie, pressing the edges against the pan, to create a top crust.
