How to Remove Oil Stains From a Driveway With WD-40

Remove oil stains with WD-40.

WD-40 is a multi-purpose solvent with at least 2,000 listed uses. Since WD-40 has the ability to remove grease, you can use it on driveways that have oil stains. Although WD-40 is a chemical, it won't damage the surface of the driveway in any way. In addition to the WD-40, you will need a scrub brush and a few other items.

Things You'll Need

• Paper towels
• WD-40
• Dish soap
• Water
• Wire scrub brush

Instructions

1. Soak up as much of the oil as you can with paper towels. Toss the paper towels in the trash.

2. Spray the entire oil stain with WD-40. Saturate the area. Let it sit for five minutes and wipe it up with an old rag.

3. Drip grease-fighting dish soap on any stain that remains. Pour a little hot water over the dish soap and scrub with a wire brush.

4. Flush the area clean with hot boiling water.

5. Repeat if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also sprinkle kitty litter on the ground to absorb the spilled oil.

• Don't get the oil and WD-40 on your hands. Wear plastic or latex gloves while cleaning up the stain.
