How to Use an Old Violin for Decorative Purposes

Display your old violin to add charm or nostalgia to your decor.

Use your old violin as decor for an antique-styled room or a music-themed room. The violin can act as the focal point of the room's decor, or simply accessorize the room. Old violins can work in a sophisticated room, such as a formal library, or a casual room, such as a child's playroom. The way you choose to display the instrument and the accessories you surround it with will determine the way the room looks and feels as a whole.

Instructions

1. Paint the room in a warm beige tone or deep red for a sophisticated or formal room. Alternatively, paint musical notes or a silhouette of a string quartet on one wall for an informal or music room.

2. Hang the violin on a wall with a bracket or use a stand to display it on a shelf, windowsill or table. Alternatively, decorate a violin case and lean the violin inside of it.

3. Add other musical accessories around the violin, such as other stringed instruments, the violin sheet music from your favorite song or violin figurines.

4. Hang mirrors, pictures or artwork that include musical notes or violins behind the violin, if you choose to stand it up.
