How to Make a Crochet Hook Holder
For many crafters, the repetition of stitching in crochet is relaxing. You may lose that effect, however, if your hooks disappear just when you need them. A handmade holder will keep hooks handy and organized for when you're ready for some crafting.
Things You'll Need
- Fabric napkin
- Tape measure
- Straight pins
- Tailor's chalk
- Hook-and-loop tape or snap
- 24 inches of ribbon
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay the napkin right side down on your workspace.
-
2
Measure 2 inches from the top of the napkin and place a pin to mark the line.
-
-
3
Fold the napkin, wrong sides together, so that the bottom edge is at the pin. Pin it in place.
-
4
Machine-stitch the folded section in place on three sides, removing the pins as you go.
-
5
Mark lines 1/2 inch apart across the napkin with the chalk.
-
6
Stitch on the lines to form pockets.
-
7
Stitch a snap or a piece of hook-and-loop tape to the 2-inch flap and the matching area below it when folded.
-
8
Cut the ribbon in half. Hem one end on each piece by folding 1/8 inch to the wrong side, folding it again the same amount and stitching it.
-
9
Pin the unhemmed ends on one short edge of the holder. Overlap them slightly in a V-shape.
-
10
Stitch the ribbons in place.
-
11
Insert your hooks in the pockets and close the flap. Roll the holder from the short side without the ribbons. Tie the roll closed with the ribbons.
