How to Clear a Video Memory Card
Videos require a lot of memory space on the card. If you don't have much space left for more photos or videos on the camera/camcorder, you can clear the device's memory card. You might want to transfer all the existing data to the computer for backup. Once everything has been transferred, you can format the memory card to delete everything and recreate the file system, including new directories. Formatting also improves the overall performance of the card.

Connect the camera or camcorder to the computer via USB data cable. Turn the device on, so the computer recognizes the memory card.

Go to "Start," "Computer."

Right-click the drive associated with the memory card, for instance "(H:)" and select the option "Format."

Select a file system type from the "Format Removable Disk" window. For 4GB or higher capacity cards, select "FAT32." Select "FAT" for 2GB or lower capacity cards.

Click "Start." The old data on the memory card is erased.
