Badminton is a popular lawn game, as well as an Olympic sport.

Badminton is a popular lawn game that has been played for centuries throughout the world. In 16th century England, it was played without a net. British soldiers brought back the idea of the net from their station in India, where the game was adapted to the rules it is played by today. Only the server may score a point, and the player who scores 15 points first wins the game and two out of three game wins the match.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin game with a score of 0-0, sometimes called love-all.

    • 2

Serve the shuttle by hitting it underhanded and over the net to your opponent.

    • 3

Score one point if your opponent misses the return or hits the shuttle out of bounds. Points are only added to the score of the player who served.

    • 4

Serve the shuttle from the other side of your end of the court. If you did not score a point, the other player takes a turn to serve.

    • 5

Continue to play until the one player acquires 15 points and wins the game. If both players are tied at 14, they can choose to play to 15 or to 17 points.

    • 6

Trade places with your opponent at the other end of the court between games and when one player reaches a score of 8 in the last game.

    • 7

Resume playing until someone has won the best of three games.
