  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Rags
  • Baking soda
  • Water

      Unplug the curling iron and allow it to cool completely. Soak the metal end in rubbing alcohol for a couple hours.

      Remove the curling iron from the alcohol. Using a rag, wipe away any gunk that has loosened.

      Apply a mixture of baking soda and water paste to the gunk spots. Scrub back and forth vigorously with a nylon bristle brush until all the gunk is removed.

      Depress the lever to open the iron. Inspect for any missed gunk spots and repeat Step 3 until all gunk is removed. Wipe away any cleaning residue and dry the iron thoroughly.
