Instructions

  1. Making a Fabric Tree Ornament

    • 1

Draw an outline of a Christmas tree on a sheet of tracing paper. Cut it out. This will become your pattern.

    • 2

Pin the pattern onto the fabric. Cut along the outline of the pattern. Cut out a second tree.

    • 3

Pin the nicer sides of the trees face to face. Sew around the two longer sides of the trees, leaving the bottom, or the trunk, open. Turn the ornament inside out so that the nicer side of the fabric is facing out. Insert the stuffing into the opening.

    • 4

Place a touch of glue on the tip of the cinnamon stick. Glue the cinnamon stick onto the tree to form the tree trunk. Sew or glue the bell on the top of the tree. Glue or sew the ribbon onto the ornament. Hang your decoration.

    Natural Decorations

    • 5

Decorate your Christmas tree with pine cones and baby's breath. To add some color, spray paint the pine cones silver and gold.

    • 6

Pop some popcorn. Adorn the tree with stringed popcorn and cranberries. You also can use dried apples and oranges. Dry the fruit and slice them. Hang them with a thin ribbon.

    • 7

Decorate the tree in ribbons and bows.

    • 8

Recycle and reuse. Cover your tree with a skirt or two. Sew portions of two or more old skirts together to make a tree skirt. Use complementary colors. This is a wonderful way to extend the life of worn outgrown skirts. Save those broken old pocket watch cases. Insert family photos in the cases and hang them with ribbon from the tree.

Wrap Styrofoam balls in fabric. Use ribbon or twine to hang the ornament.
