Instructions

  1. Creat a Graduation Invitation

    • 1

Write down all the information to be included and have someone else read it. Think of all the details that someone coming from far away would like to know. Answering these five questions may help:

What is the event? A graduation is being held.

Why is an invitation being sent? To request the presence of the person receiving the invitation.

Who is graduating? Answer this with the name of the person graduating.

When will they be graduating? Remember to include the date and time.

Where will the graduation take place? Be sure to show directions to the venue where the event is being held. This can be done by printing a simple map that is included in the invitation.

On the computer, gather creative images to include in the invitation. They can include photos of the person graduating from preschool through high school, the school crest, the school logo, a picture at an athletic or musical event or the family crest. Photo collages work well and are always interesting for those receiving the invitation. They also add sentimental value to the invitation.

Open PowerPoint on the computer and create a blank page with two sides. Create a second slide made in the same fashion. The first slide will be the cover and the back. The second slide will be the inside page one and two.

    • 4

Create the cover. This is a good spot for an image like the school crest and for the announcement of the graduation. Insert pictures saved on your computer onto the PowerPoint slide by clicking on "Insert" and then on "Image." This will take you to the "Open file" window where you can select your images to include.

    • 5

Create page one. This is a great place for the class logo or school motto. To be a bit more creative, consider writing a personal message that inspire the graduate. Open a text box in the same way that an image is placed. Instead of clicking on "Image," click on "Text." This text box can be moved around the page and placed exactly where desired.

    • 6

Design page two. The answers to the questions from step one need to be written here. Feel free to be creative with text and font formats. Be careful that the font selected is legible and large enough for the invited guest to read.

    • 7

Finish the back cover with a creative touch. Parting words or images are a great way to finish an invitation. Insert text, pictures or graphics here to provide a solid and memorable closing moment. Consider using quotes from admired teachers or other mentors who have had an influence on the graduate.

Print the invitation for preview and a second opinion. Follow the instructions of the printer's manual to print on both sides of a page. For better quality, use a photo printer with card stock or other slightly thicker paper.
