How to Make a Yo-Yo Bracelet
Sewing and creating things out of yo-yos, circular pieces of cloth, has been a hobby of many artistic types for decades. If you have scraps of fabric lying around, then you have the necessary supplies to make a yo-yo bracelet. This is an easy craft project that works up quickly. You can make yo-yo bracelets to coordinate with any outfit, and you don't need a big sewing machine to accomplish the task.

1
Draw a circle on a piece of cardboard using a geometry compass. Make the circle with a 2 1/8-inch diameter. If you don't have a compass, you can improvise with a quarter. You can make the yo-yos bigger by making the circle bigger. Remember, when the yoyo is finished, it will be half the size of the circle that you started with.

2
Transfer the circle shape by tracing around the circle pattern with a pencil. Depending on the circumference of your wrist, most bracelets need 8 yo-yos. Adjust the number of yo-yos to your wrist size.

3
Cut a 2-foot long piece of sewing thread and thread a needle at one end. Choose a thread that is strong. You don't want the thread to break as you make and wear your bracelet.
-
4
Place the fabric circle on the table with the wrong side facing up. Fold the outside edge over 1/4 inch toward the center of your fabric. As you fold the edge, sew a running stitch close to the fold to keep the edge in place. Do not knot the thread, but leave an inch tail at the end. Sew all the way around the circle until you meet where your first stitch began. Space your stitches at least a 1/4-inch apart, but don't make your stitches any smaller, or you will have a big center hole. Your material will pucker in places, but this is normal.

5
Grasp both strings between thumb and index finger and pull on them at the same time. You may have to work the material a little bit to keep your string from breaking. As you pull, the edges come together in a small circle in the middle of the yo-yo. Use your fingers to help flatten and shape the yo-yo as you pull on the strings. Tie the strings together in a knot. Trim the threads close to the knot.

6
Sew on a button or other embellishment to the center of the yo-yo. This is done on the side without the hole in the middle of the circle. When choosing your buttons or embellishments, remember that one of the buttons on the yo-yo is part of the clasp and this yoyo is placed on either end of the bracelet.
-
7
Sew the yo-yos together to form your bracelet. Position two of the yo-yos together with right sides facing. Whip stitch a fourth to a half-inch of the two yo-yos together on one end. Tie the string off and trim the thread. Continue in attaching the yo-yos together until you have the bracelet the length you want.
-
8
Cut a strand of embroidery thread for your clasp. Choose a corresponding color to compliment the bracelet. You can separate the strings of the embroidery floss in half, but when making the clasp, don't use less than three strands or it won't be durable.
-
9
Thread a needle with the embroidery floss and insert the needle in the back section of the bracelet on the last yo-yo made. Make a small stitch at least a 1/4-inch from the edge and make a knot at the end of the string to keep it from coming out of the material. Leave a loop that is big enough to go over the button that you sewed on the first yo-yo. Once you have the length determined, make a small stitch on the back side of the last yo-yo. Knot to keep the string in place and trim the thread.
