How to Make Fast Ice Cream
Nothing is better on a hot summer day than a large bowl of ice cream. According to the International Dairy Food Association, approximately 90 percent of all American households consume ice cream or other related frozen desserts. A quick and delicious homemade ice cream treat can be made at home with a few easy ingredients. Get the kids involved to make this sweet treat an after-school activity as well as an after-school snack. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 gallon-sized plastic zippered bag
- Ice
- 1 pint-sized plastic zippered bag
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 cup half and half
- 1/2 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 6 tbsp. rock salt

Fill a gallon-sized plastic zippered bag half full with ice. Set aside.

Fill a pint-sized plastic zippered bag with 2 tbsp. sugar, 1 cup half and half and 1/2 tbsp. vanilla extract. Seal the bag and shake it gently to mix the ingredients.

Add 6 tbsp. rock salt into the zippered bag that contains ice.

Place the pint-sized bag into the gallon bag filled with ice. Make sure that the smaller bag is completely covered with the ice inside the larger bag.

Close the gallon zippered bag and allow it to sit for five to 10 minutes. Feel the pint-sized bag after five minutes; if its contents are hard enough to be consumed, the bag can be removed.

Remove the smaller zippered bag, open and eat.
