How to Make an Origami Rose Brooch
Origami flowers are an eye-catching addition to decorations, crafts and jewelry. Roses are a common flower to emulate, and you can create your own homemade origami rose brooch by securely attaching your origami rose to a brooch pin. The project requires very few supplies and can be completed in a relatively short period of time. Incorporate different colors and textures of origami paper to give your origami rose brooches distinctive, stylish looks. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Fold the origami paper in half. Crease it well, and then unfold it.
-
2
Rotate the unfolded paper 90 degrees, and fold it in half once again.
-
-
3
Unfold the paper to reveal two crease lines, which divide the paper into four sections. Lightly trace the crease lines in pencil so they are easier to see.
-
4
Rotate the paper 45 degrees.
-
5
Fold the paper in half to crease it, and unfold again. Draw a light red line along the new crease.
-
6
Rotate the paper once again by 90 degrees. Fold it in half to crease it, and then unfold it and draw another red line along the new crease. The paper now includes four crease lines.
-
7
Rotate the paper by 45 degrees, and fold it in half. You will see two diagonal crease lines: one vertical crease line in the middle and one on either side. Fold the right side of the paper up on the diagonal crease line to meet the vertical crease.
-
8
Turn your paper over so the folded section now rests on the left side. Fold the side that is now on the right up on the diagonal crease, as you did with the previous fold.
-
9
Fold the triangle-shaped paper in half along the center fold line, going under instead of over as in the previous folds, so the side of the paper you currently see remains visible.
-
10
Form a square base by opening the paper from the inside. The open sides should face upward. Rotate the paper so the open sides of the square base now face down. The paper will be in a diamond shape, with a diagonal crease visible on either side. Fold both sections over at the crease to line up with the creases visible on the inside of the diamond.
-
11
Turn the paper over, and fold the pointed tip down along the horizontal crease. Unfold each of the three folds you just made.
-
12
Lift the bottom corner up. You are now starting to form the petals of your origami rose. Bring the edges of the paper in toward the middle while you bring the bottom corner up. Flatten the edges as you move them toward the middle. The petal fold is complete when the sides come together, flat, to touch.
-
13
Turn the paper over, and unfold the same three folds as in Step 11. Repeat Step 12 to make another petal fold. You now have what is called a bird base, which is a thin diamond in shape.
-
14
Fold the top layer of the upper right side down along the vertical crease. Turn the paper over, and repeat this process.
-
15
Fold down the upper top layer along the middle horizontal crease. Turn the model over, and repeat on the opposite side to form a layered triangle shape. Open up the four sides.
-
16
Hold the model so it forms the shape of a plus sign, and fold the paper up along the top right L shape. Then fold the paper down on a diagonal crease that aligns with the bottom lower section of the paper. Repeat this fold with all four sides.
-
17
Turn the paper over, and rotate the top of it with the tweezers. Do this slowly and with some force for the best effect. Curl each of the four petals with the tweezers to give the rose a more realistic shape.
-
18
Turn it over once again, and fold the triangular point of each petal down. Turn the flower back to the front, and curl three edges per petal with the tweezers.
-
19
Hot glue your completed origami rose to a brooch pin. Depending upon how large the finished rose is, two brooch pins might be appropriate to attach the flower firmly to clothing.
