Instructions

    • 1

Pop the gas tank cap on your Camaro. Place an empty fuel container next to fuel tank filler opening.

    • 2

Place the suction hose of a manually operated gas pump inside the Camaro's gas tank. Slide the pump's hose inside the gas tank, and place the other end in a fuel container.

    • 3

Work the fuel pump's lever up and down, removing all flammable fuel from the gas tank. Seal the fuel container and save the fuel for later.

    • 4

Raise the rear of the Camaro at least two feet off the ground, using a jack.

    • 5

Crawl under the rear of the Camaro and find the gas tank. The tank is held in place by several straps. Pry off the straps with a screwdriver. The tank should be loose now, but it will still be tethered to the car due to the fuel line that is attached to it. Unscrew the fuel line.

    • 6

Lower the fuel tank carefully onto a cart or blanket. If possible, have a friend assist you as you lower the tank.

Tips & Warnings

  • Under no circumstances should you smoke or utilize any open flame near the gas tank while you are removing it
