How to Wear Jeans & a Collared Shirt

When you make weekend plans, don’t forget thinking about what to wear. The trend, as of 2009, is to pair collared shirts with jeans, giving you a laid-back look that’s a step above jeans and a T-shirt. Even though guys don’t have as many fashion options as their gal friends, they can still pair together some basic items, add a casual belt and shoes and look put-together for a weekend’s fun.

Pair a striped polo shirt with jeans and sneakers. The polo shirt can be a solid color or striped shirt, but keep it untucked outside your jeans. Use a casual belt and slip your sneakers on with no socks or no-show socks.

Slip on a collared shirt with stripes of different colors and leave the top button or two undone. Add a pair of dark jeans or white jeans and moccasins. Slip the sweater on and you’re ready to take your girl out.

Put on a plain white, tailored shirt and a pair of jeans. Leave the shirt untucked with the sleeves rolled down and slip into your moccasins.

Pair white jeans with a colored shirt with a collar, a sweater, moccasins and a casual belt. Don’t be afraid to go for some color in this combination. You want to catch people's attention when you leave the house.

Tips & Warnings

  • The key to pairing collared shirts with jeans is to slightly dress up an otherwise casual look.
  • When you go shopping for new shirts, look for a collared shirt with a western flair. Pick up a collared shirt that has decorative accents on one shoulder or on the cuffs.
