How to Clean an SLR5

SLR 5 is a data cartridge drive made by Imation. It allows users to place SLR 5 data cartridges into the drive and save information on them for back up purposes. The dust and debris in the air can get inside the SLR drives and cause them to not read or write information properly. In order to avoid this problem, the SLR 5 drive should be cleaned regularly.

Things You'll Need

• Wet cleaning kit
• Dry cleaning kit

Instructions

1. Turn on the SLR 5 data drive.

2. Place the wet cleaning kit into the drive if it takes cartridges 5 1/4 inches wide. Place the cartridge into the drive with the small end first and allow it to run until it is complete. It will take about two to five minutes.

3. Place the dry cleaning kit into the SLR 5 drive if it takes discs larger than 5 GB. Allow the kit to run for one to two minutes until it is complete.

Tips & Warnings

• Clean your SLR drives once a week to every month.
