Aroma ARC 830 Rice Cooker Instructions

Aroma ARC 830 Rice Cooker Instructions thumbnail
Cooking up rice is a snap with a rice cooker.

Rice cookers are countertop appliances that take the guesswork out of cooking rice. Some models, such as the Aroma ARC-830TC, have a warming feature. When the rice is finished cooking, the warmer automatically turns on, keeping the rice warm until you are ready to serve it. The texture improves if you allow the rice to set for about ten minutes after it finishes cooking, and the cooker switches to the warming mode. The rice cooker comes with a small measuring cup, smaller than a standard 8-ounce cup. Each one of these cups makes 2 cups of cooked rice. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place the rice cooker on a sturdy counter, close to an electrical outlet. Don't plug in yet.

    • 2

Measure out the amount of rice you intend to cook into a bowl, using the measuring cup that comes with the machine.

    • 3

Run cold water over the rice, moving the rice gently with your hand to rinse. Drain out all the water.

    • 4

Open the rice cooker and put the rice in the inner pot in the rice cooker.

    • 5

Add cold water to the pot. Measurement lines along the inner side of the pan will indicate how much water to add for each cup of white rice. Generally speaking, this is slightly more than the rice added. If using brown rice, refer to the package of rice for the recommended amount of water to add. Brown rice requires more water than white rice.

    • 6

Close the lid and plug the cord into the electrical outlet. Let the rice to soak for 10 to 20 minutes if you want softer rice, or proceed immediately to the next step.

    • 7

Press the "Cook" button. A light will turn on. When the rice is finished cooking, an alarm will chime and the appliance will switch to the warm mode. At this point the "Warm" light will turn on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never remove rice using a metal utensil, as it will scratch the pan. Use a wooden or plastic rice paddle.

  • Don't overfill the rice cooker; its capacity is 10 cups of cooked rice.
