How to Use Voice Band Modems on DSL

Although DSL Internet connections are far faster than the connections offered by a voice band modem, you may find yourself needing to use a voice band modem to connect to the Internet, such as when the DSL goes out or if you need the modem to connect to a specific computer.

  • DSL filter
  • Telephone cord
  • 2-line phone splitter

Instructions

    • 1

      Connect the DSL filter to the phone jack on the voice band modem.

      Connect the phone line to the open slot on the DSL filter.

    • 3

      Remove the DSL phone line from the phone jack and insert it into the 2-line spitter. Place the phone line connected to the voice modem in the other end. (Skip this step if the DSL modem is connected elsewhere.)

    • 4

      Connect the voice modem phone line or phone splitter to the phone jack.
