How to Use Voice Band Modems on DSL

Although DSL Internet connections are far faster than the connections offered by a voice band modem, you may find yourself needing to use a voice band modem to connect to the Internet, such as when the DSL goes out or if you need the modem to connect to a specific computer.

Things You'll Need

• DSL filter
• Telephone cord
• 2-line phone splitter

Instructions

1. Connect the DSL filter to the phone jack on the voice band modem.

2. Connect the phone line to the open slot on the DSL filter.

3. Remove the DSL phone line from the phone jack and insert it into the 2-line spitter. Place the phone line connected to the voice modem in the other end. (Skip this step if the DSL modem is connected elsewhere.)

4. Connect the voice modem phone line or phone splitter to the phone jack.
