How to Make a Fabric Corsage for Baptism
Baptism is a ritual which symbolizes Christian rebirth. The color associated with baptism is white, according to the United Church of Christ website, ucc.org. White, in western culture, represents purity. Making a fabric corsage for a baptism is a way to celebrate a new beginning with recycled fabrics. In this manner you give new life to something that might otherwise be thrown away and using it to celebrate a new life in Christ.

1
Draw two, three-petal flowers. Make one of the flowers slightly larger than the other. The larger should be 5 1/2 inches across and the smaller flower 3 inches across. Cut out the patterns.
-
2
Fold the fabric and lay the pattern on top. Pin the large pattern on top of the pile and trace around it.
-
-
3
Cut around the traced lines. You will end up with four large flowers. Repeat the process to cut four more large flowers. Repeat Step 3 to create four smaller flowers.
-
4
Lay one of the small flowers on the table then offset a second small flower on the first, so that the second flowers lines up the gap of the first flower.
-
5
Fold the flower in half and make two stitches. Unfold the flower and fold it in half in the other direction and make two more stitches. Add the last two small flowers in the same fashion.
-
6
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to create the large flowers. Instead of having four layers, it will have eight in all. Sew the small flower into the center of the big flower.
-
7
Sew on a piece of costume jewelry to create the center of the flower.
-
8
Sew a pin bar onto the back of the fabric corsage.
