How to Use Java 6 on the Sun ONE Web Server 6

Oracle's Sun ONE Web Server is designed to host one or more websites that incorporate Java and JavaScript technology. Version 6 of the ONE Web Server supports the 1.4 and 1.4.1 Java Development Kits (JDKs). Installing the Java 6 SDK directly on the ONE Web Server will add support for it. The Java 6 SDK will replace the SDK included with the ONE Web Server 6. The Java 6 SDK is backwards compatible with the 1.4 SDK, so this will not pose a problem for programs and scripts that rely on the previous version.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the Java 6 SDK installation package (see Resources).

    • 2

Double-click the "java6sdk" file and click the "Install" button. Windows users will need to click "OK" to proceed. Solaris, Linux and HP-UX users will need to enter an administrative password to proceed.

    • 3

Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
