How to Find Invisible Friends in Gtalk

Also know as Google Talk or Gmail Chat, Gtalk is the chat plug-in that works with Google's Gmail. It allows a user to chat with friends, family and co-workers on her contact list without having to leave her email window. Among Gtalk's many features is that users can make themselves "invisible" at their discretion. If you want to chat with an invisible user, however, it's possible to do so -- if you have someone specific in mind.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to Gmail (see Resources) and log in. You must be signed in to your Google account to use Gchat.

    • 2

Hover your cursor over the name of a contact you believe is online, but invisible, until a rectangular box appears to the left of your buddy list. Click the "Chat" button.

    • 3

Type a message to your friend. If she's online and invisible, she will respond to you. If she doesn't, it either means she's online or simply doesn't want to talk right now -- which may be the reason she made herself invisible in the first place.
