Make your own candy bar wrappers as favors for your guests.

Handmade wedding candy wrappers are a clever, personalized touch for your wedding favors. There are many companies that will make candy bars wrapped with your message, but you can make them yourself on any word processing software. There's no need to buy special software or expensive materials. Making your own wedding candy wrappers gives you the freedom to create a customized design or several designs to give to your wedding guests as a thank-you for sharing your special day.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase the candy bars you will give to your guests.

    • 2

Carefully remove the outside wrapper from the candy bar. Leave the foil in place. If the candy does not have foil, you can purchase pre-cut foil.

    • 3

Measure the height and length of the wrapper and write them down. You will use the measurements to set the size on your word processing program. Alternatively, you can trace the wrapper on a plain piece of paper to create the wrapper by hand.

    • 4

Design the wrapper. Write the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date. You may choose to add an image of the couple and designs that will be used in the wedding decorations, such as hearts, bells, doves and flowers.

    • 5

List the ingredients somewhere on the wrapper in case any guests have food allergies.

    • 6

Test your design by printing out one candy bar wrapper and wrapping it around the candy bar. You may need to readjust positions or sizes of text and images. When you are satisfied with the overall design, print out the number of wrappers needed.

    • 7

Fold the wrappers around the edges of the candy bars. Use a glue stick or transparent tape to attach the overlapping edge on the back.

Tips & Warnings

  • Several websites, including Microsoft, offer free wrapper templates.

  • You can also make the wrappers by hand: Write the text and attach clip art pictures on a template and then photocopy the number of wrappers needed.

  • Do not use liquid glue, which could seep onto the candy.
