Instructions

    • 1

Select clothing with solid colors -- no patterns -- for your child to wear in her school photos. Wrinkle free, permanent press or all cotton clothing is the idea. A good outfit for boys is khaki pants with a polo shirt. For girls, a simple dress that is not too frilly will work well. Bows and jewelry should be kept small and simple so they don't take attention away from the face.

    • 2

Have your child practice smiling and good posture in the mirror. If you have a young child, you may also want to take pictures at home so he can practice sitting still in preparation for the actual photo shoot.

    • 3

Make sure your child gets an adequate amount of sleep the night before the shoot so that she'll appear well-rested and without circles under her eyes.

    • 4

Remind your child to check his hair in the mirror before taking his picture. If he's wearing a collared shirt, also have him make sure his collar is lying flat.
