Instructions

    • 1

Skin the skull. Before you begin painting a deer skull you will want to make sure you have removed any portions of the deer's head that might have still been attached to the skull. Use a sharp blade to remove any flesh that might still be connected to the bone.

    • 2

Boil the skull in water for one hour to help remove any flesh that might remain on the skull. After removing the skull from the water, allow it to air-dry for one hour.

    • 3

Make a solution of 40 percent hydrogen peroxide, and 60 percent water, and spray the skull with it. Use a toothbrush to make sure the solution gets into every small wrinkle of the skull, removing any remaining flesh that might rot later on.

    • 4

Purchase oil-based paint from your local paint of craft store in colors of your choose and use it to paint the skull the way you would like. Most hobbyists prefer to simply use white paint on skulls, however you can use any color you like, or paint a design.
