How to Buy a Home Celiac Test

How to Buy a Home Celiac Test thumbnail
Home celiac tests can be purchased on the Internet.

Celiac disease, with its accompanying bloating, nausea, abdominal pain and other issues, can be difficult to live with. If you are experiencing these symptoms and want to determine if you have the disease but don't want to spend money on a potentially-expensive laboratory test, you can test yourself. You'll have to spend money, but it won't cost as much as a lab test. You will need to draw a small amount of blood from your finger for the home test, so be prepared for a slightly uncomfortable prick.

Instructions

    • 1

Log onto the Internet and go to the Celiac Home Test website.

    • 2

Click "order" on the right side of the home page. On the following page, click "Add to cart." In December 2010, one test cost $50.

    • 3

Enter your credit card information, including security code and expiration date. Enter in your shipping address to have the test sent to your home.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some doctor's offices also may carry the same simple test, but you'll likely have to pay for the doctor's visit in addition to the test. Under this scenario, the home test still would be less expensive.
