How to Remove a Chevy Seat Without the Air Bag Light Going Off
You can remove any seat from your Chevrolet without the air bag light going off by disconnecting the vehicle's battery and removing the SRS fuse. SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint System, and it illuminates when the vehicle's On-Board Diagnostics computer receives a trouble code from the airbag system. Bumping the dashboard repeatedly while removing a seat from the vehicle can cause the SRS light to illuminate on the dashboard.

1
Park the vehicle on level ground, turn off the vehicle and set the parking brake.
-
2
Pop up the hood of your Chevy and locate the battery. Find the cable attached to the negative side of the battery which is indicated by a - sign on the terminal.
-
-
3
Loosen the nut on top of the cable with a wrench and slide the cable off the battery. Set it aside carefully, making sure it doesn't touch the positive terminal. Wait at least 10 minutes for the electricity to drain from the computer's memory.
-
4
Open the fuse panel cover, which you will find on the lower part of the driver's side dashboard. Open it with your hands and find the SRS or air bag fuse on the diagram on the inside of the panel.
-
5
Remove the fuse pullers from inside the fuse panel and use them to remove the SRS fuse. The air bag will be completely disabled. Proceed with removing the seats from your Chevy.
