How to Apply Reflective Beads to Paint

Kids' crafts projects do not have to be restricted to traditional crayons or even paint. There is a wide range of materials to choose from. An example of this are reflective beads. These tiny circular beads can add many interesting effects to a painted image. For example, if a child has painted a picture of the ocean, add beads to make the water part of the image seem to shimmer. Remember that you cannot simply mix the beads in with the paint, since they need to be on top of the painted surface.

Things You'll Need

• Painted picture
• Table
• Adhesive
• Brush
• Glass beads

Instructions

1. Allow the painted picture to dry entirely, then place it flat down on a table or other surface.

2. Use a brush to paint adhesive onto the areas of the painting where you want the beads to stick.

3. Sprinkle the beads onto the glued surface. Once the glue has dried, pour the excess beads that did not stick back into the container.

Tips & Warnings

• You can also sprinkle the beads over wet paint to get them to stick.

• The beads will lose their shimmer if mixed directly into the paint.
