How to Draw a Magnifying Glass
A magnifying glass is a good subject for an art-sketching project: The roundness of the lens, the variation of shading and the handle can be drawn with little expertise. Nevertheless, you can get quite detailed by adding more dimension and features. You can draw a magnifying glass in just a few steps.

1
Gather your supplies, including the paper, sharpened sketching pencils and a magnifying glass if you're using one as a model. Decide the shape and size of the magnifier you plan to draw.
-
2
Start by drawing the magnifying glass lens. Draw the glass as a complete circle like a basketball if you're drawing the picture to show the magnifying glass from the front. Use the compass to draw a perfectly round circle or sketch freehand for a more rustic look. Draw the glass as an oblong shape if you're sketching the magnifier on an angle.

3
Sketch the handle by drawing a long, thick proportionate "U"-shaped line attached to the lens. Use a magnifying glass as a model if you'rye unsure how to draw the handle.
-
4
Shade the glass with different color and pressure of your pencil. Start at one end and color in lightly, moving the pencil back and forth with a swooping, circular motion to make the lens appear round. Highlight and add dimension by using darker colors and shades throughout the lens.

5
Retrace and highlight the rim of the glass and handle, adding detail if desired.
