How to Use an MP3 for Ringtones on the SMT 5800
The Verizon SMT 5800 cell phone allows users to upload music in several formats, including MP3, and set them as their ringtones. If you haven't uploaded your MP3s, you will first need to transfer them via the Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center from your PC to your phone.

Syncing With Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center

Connect your phone to your computer's USB port, via the USB cable that came with your SMT 5800. Windows Mobile Device Center will automatically open.

Accept the program's licensing terms when prompted by the pop-up screen.

Click the "Set Up Your Device" button in the Window Mobile Device Center startup screen.

Choose the type of information you want transferred to your phone (audio) and click "Next." Type a name for your device and click the "Set Up" button. Wait for the setup process to complete.

Click the "Start" button on your phone and select "ActiveSync." Click the "Sync" button to begin syncing your audio to your phone.
Setting Your Ringtone

Navigate via Windows Explorer on your PC to the audio file you want as your ringtone. Right-click and select "Copy."

Click the "File Management" button in the Windows Mobile Device Center main window. Select the "Browse the Contents of Your Device" option.

Click "Application Data" and select the "Sounds" folder.

Paste the file into the "Sounds" folder by pressing "Ctrl + V" on your keyboard.
