How to Flash a Sony Ericsson
Flashing involves restoring your phone to its factory settings. You may need to flash your Sony Ericsson to update the software, to fix your phone or to use it with another wireless provider. Whatever you reason is, you will find the process relatively simple. Your wireless provider can provide you with the appropriate software for your cell phone. You also need a USB cable, which you should have received with your Sony Ericsson phone.

1
Back up important information on your phone. The flashing process will wipe out your phone's memory. Insert a SD memory card in the SD memory port, located either on the side or bottom of your phone. Alternatively, connect your phone to your computer via USB cable and use backup software from your wireless provider.

2
Contact your desired wireless provider. Ask if you can flash your phone to their network. Depending on your provider, you may have to pay a fee for the software.

3
Attach the USB cable to your Sony Ericsson phone. Plug the other end into your computer's USB port. Run the flashing software.
-
4
Look for the message "Communicating with Device" on both the computer screen and your phone. Once the software detects your Sony Ericsson phone, it will begin the flashing process.
-
5
Wait for the flashing process to complete. Your Sony Ericsson phone will reboot itself. You will notice that the Sony Ericsson name appears at start up instead of your wireless provider's name. That means the flashing software successfully restored your phone to its factory settings.
