How do I Fix a Black Sony Notebook Screen?
Sony notebook computers occasionally suffer from damage that causes the screen to turn black. Oftentimes, a black screen is caused by faulty video cables or disconnected video cables. To fix the laptop's problem, remove the cables from their ports and plug them back in. If this does not fix the screen of your computer, the screen may be broken and may require replacement. Before attempting to fix a screen, change the brightness on your screen to determine if it the problem is caused by a low brightness.

Remove the plastic hinges on the base of your laptop faceplate. Slide these plastic hinges off the faceplate and set them aside. Gently pull the faceplate away from the laptop and set it aside.

Insert a screwdriver into the screws that connect your keyboard to the frame of your laptop. Turn the screws counter-clockwise to loosen. Set the screws aside.

Grasp the cord that connects the keyboard to the motherboard. Pull out this connector and pull the keyboard away from the laptop.

Unscrew the laptop screen's screws, located at the bottom of the base. Set the screws aside.

Reconnect the cables. Grasp the screen's video cable. Gently pull it from its port. Hold a can of condensed air about three inches away from the port. Spray air into the port to clear any dust. Plug the video cable back into the port.
Gently pull the power cord from its port. Spray condensed air into the port and reconnect the power cord.

Replace the screws of your laptop screen. Plug the keyboard back into the motherboard. Replace the remaining clips and screws to reassemble your laptop.
